District 24: Choa Chu Kang, Tengah, Kranji, Singapore

Tengah is a planning area and future HDB town located within the West Region of Singapore. Formerly a military restricted area, Tengah is currently reserved for future housing developments, making it Singapore's newest Housing and Development Board. After the demilitarisation of the military training area at Tengah, the first estate, Plantation Grove, was launched in Tengah in November 2018.

Kranji served as a military camp before the Japanese invasion of Singapore in 1942 and is now the home of the Kranji War Cemetery and Kranji War Memorial, commemorating the 30,000 Commonwealth personnel who died in Singapore, Malaya, Java, and Sumatra during World War II. In addition, it is now a prime residential area comprising mostly stand-alone properties.

The Tengah planning area has a wide variety of malls in the area to fulfill your fashion, electronic, and grocery needs, as well as housing all the multicultural dining options you would want in a mall. Shopping malls in the Tengah area include: West Mall, Lost One Shoppers Mall, Fajar Shopping Center, Le Quest Shopping Mall, Sunshine Place, Junction 10, and Greenridge Shopping Center.

Kranji also has its fair share of shopping and dining options, such as Causeway Point and Yew Tee Point.

Kranji is most well known for being the home of the Kranji War Cemetery and Kranji War Memorial. Visit the memorial to commemorate the 30,000 commonwealth soldiers who gave their life in WW2.

Another place of interest located in the Far North is the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, a hidden gem of this area that should be on everyone’s itinerary to this area. This large-scale nature reserve is full of special attractions like being home to some of the world’s rarest trees and mangroves, housing different animals, and having unique structures like a boardwalk and vantage point that visitors can enjoy.

Another notable destination in the area is Turf Club, a horse racing complex that has become a popular place in Singapore for entertainment.

In Tengah, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Go see a bird show at the nearby Jurong Bird Park, or learn about Biology and Space at the nearby Science Center.

The Tengah area will be connected to the Jurong Region MRT line in 2026, and a new integrated transport hub will also be ready by 2022.
