District 26: Mandai, Upper Thomson, Singapore
Introduction
Mandai is a planning area located in the North Region of Singapore, famously known for being the access point of the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. The name is said to come from a Malay tree called "pokok Mandai". In the old days of Singapore, the area was used for military training, however, now it is known for housing the zoo, bird park, river, and night safaris.
Shopping and Dining
The Mandai area, being mostly used for zoos and parks, does not have many amenities nearby. The closest shopping malls would be Causeway Point, Marsiling Mall, Titan Star, and Bukit Panjang Mall. There is one shopping mall in Upper Thomson, Thomson Plaza.
Although there is not an abundance of shopping malls, Mandai and Upper Thomson are more than capable of providing a top-notch dining experience. Restaurants in the area include The Roti Prata House, Inuka Cafe, or Ah Meng Restaurant.

There are plenty of activities to come and enjoy in this region of Singapore. Mandai is especially famous for being the home to the world-renowned Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Safari, and Mandai Bird Park.

It is most easily accessible by Ang Mo Kio, Choa Chu Kang, Woodlands, and Marsiling. The Upper Thomson area is directly accessible by the Upper Thomson MRT station
